Public Workshop Series
Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente Colorado
Co-hosted by Transportation Solutions, LiveWell Westwood and the Federal Boulevard Partnership
October 14-22, 2009

Five public workshops were held in different Denver neighborhoods in October 2009 to engage the general public on the potential benefits and tradeoffs of living streets and receive input and feedback. The workshops began with an open house where attendees could explore information about the five themes of living streets: placemaking, multimodal transportation, economic development, public health and environmental sustainability. Then attendees viewed a short film featuring different perspectives about how real people get around Denver and what obstacles they face. After an overview presentation about the initiative, attendees played the Right-of-Way Game, where they were asked to redesign a street using game pieces such as sidewalks, tree lawns, parking, medians, travel lanes, transit lanes and bike lanes to represent their values while still promoting mobility within a limited right-of-way.
